You Can’t Handle the (blue) Tooth!

Written By: JoJoisms - Sep• 12•13

My new iPhone got here the day after my birthday, but I couldn’t figure out what to do with it so I waited for my dh to get home.

He plugged it in to charge it up and settled in to watch racing with my son telling me to b/up my flip phone contacts using the directions. Yeah, right!  The directions said, “Back up your old phone.” That was somewhat less than helpful. lol

So I went on the Verizon site and typed in backup.  Found 171 entries.  They told me about iCloud and the cost of keeping my iPhone data on their server or something.  It also gave me a link where I could transfer my data from my old iPhone.  Since I didn’t have an old iPhone, that didn’t apply to me and I began to look for the customer service number to speak to a live body and ask for HELP!

For reasons unknown to me, Verizon hides the phone number so, after searching for 20 minutes, I was finally able to trick the website into giving me one.  Don’t ask me how. I can’t remember.

I called and was prompted by Automated Audrey who asked me a series of questions, none of which applied to me.  I kept pressing zero until…YES, it transferred me to a live, breathing human being!  As Phil Robertson says, NOW we’re cooking with peanut oil!

I got to a rep who was very nice.  He guided me through the b/up process step by step–at the end of which we found that my contact list was ALREADY backed up!  At this point, it is already evident that I can’t handle this technology.  Stay tuned to this blog for further episodes of As the iPhone Turns.

I love your sense of humor, JoJo! I don’t have an iphone – or a smart phone, not even a flip phone. We still have the home phone and I have a blue Nokia 1100 phone. People laugh and laugh at me when they see my phone. (think old blue tracfone) I would like to get another phone as this one is 8 years old or so and every once in a while it mutes my voice (there is no mute button on it) All I need though is a phone to make calls. I have an aunt who calls me from time to time about how to do something on her computer (I’m not that savvy, honest!) The other day she asked if I could help her get her photos off her phone on to her computer. I couldn’t help her. I told her my phone only makes calls, if I want to take photos, I use my digital camera. She didn’t quite appreciate my line of thinking, but it is true! Hope you have a purple-riffic day!

Ah! Someone who understands me! The only thing I did with my old flip phone was make calls. Never used the camera. I’m overwhelmed with the technology of this thing. My dh, son and dd assure me I’ll get used to it. To be fair, it’s only been a few days, but I have some other posts coming out on my iPhone experiences and so far, it’s not working…but it IS funny!

Snort. I love your sense of humor since it is so like mine. LOL I truly understand your plight and that is why I have a snap shut phone that is ages old and works just fine in case of emergencies on the road. That’s the only reason I use it or when we’re on a trip and I need to know someone’s phone number. Hey, I figure if it ain’t broke, why would I need something else?

That’s what I was doing. Unfortunately, my purple flip phone didn’t work much so I had to replace it. 🙁 It’s still on my desk.
