Did you have one of these?

Purple phone (2)Yesterday was Push Button Phone Day.  Do you even know what these were?  Anyone had one?

I’ll bet it wasn’t purple.  Mine was red.  I used to pretend it was the Bat Phone.  lol

This antique makes me feel old.  It’s old technology.  It had a…CORD!  When you used it too much, the buttons would stick.

In those days people had to use an extension cord if they wanted to take the phone into another room.  In fact, the phone company wanted those back when you moved.  Back in my day, the phone company owned the phones too.  You had to pay them for renting them and give them back when you moved.  It was only when I was older that you could even buy a phone of your own…to keep.

What’s your phone story?

I still have a push button phone in my basement. Granted it doesn’t look like the one pictured. It is a wall mounted phone where the buttons are on the handset. Since the cordless phones need an electric outlet there wasn’t a spot where the phone jack is in the basement so we just keep that one around. When we had a different phone carrier it was the only way we could make a call when the electric went out. But now that our internet and phone are on the same system when the power goes out, we lose phone service, too. And speaking of just catching up to technology it has only been in the last 2 years we’ve even had caller ID here at the house.

We used to have a corded phone we kept for when the electricity goes out too. It hardly EVER goes out here in ARIDzona. People would die in the summers if it did so we have very good up time here.
