Daylight SAVINGS?

Written By: JoJoisms - Nov• 05•13

If you think about it, Daylight Savings Time really doesn’t SAVE any daylight. It never did.  We have exactly the same amount of daylight we had before DST.  It’s just distributed differently on the clock.

It’s kind of like that I Love Lucy episode where Lucy changes the clock back an hour to give herself more time to get dressed to meet Ricky’s new boss (pronounced bus-lol).  She had the same amount of time, she just looked at it differently.  It didn’t work out very well for Lucy. She turned the clock the wrong way and inadvertently wasted so much time they were an hour late for dinner and Ricky put her on a time schedule–hilarity to follow.

We don’t observe DST here in ARIDzona so instead of Falling Back at this time of year, we Spring Ahead to the next time zone.  Instead of running around the house changing all the clocks and finding two or three you missed three weeks later, we have to change all of our online event reminders and re-memorize how far ahead or behind each family member is so we don’t call them too early in the morning or in the middle of the night.

With the invention of the electric light bulb, we now have the technology to increase daylight without changing what time it is.  I say it’s time to save wear and tear on our clocks and our ever technologically befuddled brains and allow the clocks to be free!

By the way and just to add insanity to injury, this post will not release when I set it to.  Since the time change (we don’t observe), I can’t get my posts to release until an hour after I set them to.  Even though it says the correct time, correct time zone and the fact that Phoenix doesn’t observe DST.  I might try telling it I live in Colorado.  ROFL

I’m with you, set the clocks free and be done with it. There is so much research about increased car accidents, heart attacks, etc… for 3 days after the time change. It is a tradition that can be done away with in my book. Hope things settle down for you.

Thanks Dawn. I also can’t get my blog to allow people to comment without being approved each and every time. I turned off the moderation entirely and still have to moderate all comments. Technology’s a wonderful thing…until it isn’t. LOL
