Valentine’s Day might feel like a commercially forced day of celebration to some, but to those of us with chronic illness, we have our own issues with it. Ever been too tired to go out to dinner? Had too much pain to snuggle? It can be disappointing and frustrating both for us and for our spouses.
Often our spouses don’t know what to get us for Valentine’s Day even if we do celebrate it. Here’s a list I put together that might help:
- Bring home dinner. That way we don’t need to cook and we can stay home and enjoy our time in a comfortable environment and rest if we need to.
- Cleaning Lady for a day! A week of cleaning services to get our house in order. That way we can start off with a clean house making it easier for us to maintain the cleaning if we can.
- Back rub/foot massage.
What would you like for Valentine’s Day?
I love this list! It is great information since there are a lot of people suffering from chronic illness:) Thanks for sharing!
Yes to all of this! Just taking something hard away would be so loving.
Thanks, Reeni. I appreciate your comment!
I think it’s the perfect gift for someone struggling with pain and fatigue.
For Valentines Day I told my boyfriend we may have to get the food and eat it at home because of my energy and pain
level. He was good with that…. but then I ended up resting all day and was able to walk around downtown and eat out. We did go early to beat the long line, because that would have been too hard on me.
Oh, I’m so glad you got to go out. So awesome how flexible and caring he is.
Good job! Well written!
Those are great ideas. Especially the bringing home dinner part!
Thanks, Dana. I’ll bet all of us would appreciate that one!
Just wish to say your article is as astounding.
The clarity is simply great and i assume you’re an expert on this subject.
Thanks so much, Tomoko!
